This year was a great year. We had many first-time racers and many returners. The fastest time this year was around 3 hours 41 minutes. Congratulations to Steve Watson, a long-time racer, for winning overall this year. More importantly, we were able to raise money to help students who are attending TVCC. The Neches River Runners is a non profit organization dedicated to conservation and education which has as its primary activity the organization and staging of the Neches River Wilderness Canoe Race, the annual fund raiser and community event for the special needs scholarship fund at the Trinity Valley Community College.

Over the past 32 years the Neches Wilderness Canoe Race have raise funds in excess of $35,000 and have provided over 100+ scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship program benefits a variety of students with special needs including returning adults, single parents, veterans, and recent high school graduates.
